WEEK 1 TO 2
Less In The Drain
Most women notice less hair in the shower and on the brush. The shedding slows because the follicle is no longer being pushed to let go.
Helps reactivate dormant follicles
Promotes regrowth by stimulating scalp blood flow
The Slimy Gunk In Her Hair Made Her Dermatologist Finally Reveal A Secret She Had Been Hiding For Years
A Special Report by Patricia Sullivan, Hair and Scalp Research Specialist. July 2026.
Chapter One: The Patient Who Changed Everything
Diane came into my office in a hurry, a little out of breath, with two scarves tied around her head. When she sat down, she told me why she wore them. They hid how much of her scalp had started to show.
She was FIFTY-TWO, and her hair had been falling out for almost two years. It crept up on her slowly:
First her ponytail got thinner, so she used clips to hide the sides.
Then she saw more and more hair in the shower drain.
By the end, she was scared to wash her hair at all.
By the time she reached me, she had already tried almost everything:
Switching shampoos more times than she could count
Taking biotin for a whole year
Rubbing rosemary oil into her scalp every night
Seeing two other doctors, one of whom ran blood tests, said everything looked normal, and sent her home
Nobody could tell her why it was happening.
"I just want to feel good about myself again," she said, "instead of obsessively staring at my part line."
The look on her face was one I had seen a hundred times before.
Chapter Two: The Investigation
That Changed How I Practice
After Diane, I went digging. And I kept running into something that had been doing the rounds on the internet, but that almost no doctor was talking about. It is called a biofilm.
Here is the simple version:
A biofilm is a group of tiny bacteria and fungus that live on everybody’s scalp.
On their own, they are harmless.
But when your hormones shift, your scalp makes more oil, and that oil is food for them.
They multiply, then build a slimy shield, like a tiny fortress, right at the base of your hair.
Here is why that matters. Inside that shield, the microbes are safe:
Your immune system cannot reach them.
Your shampoo cannot reach them.
Even medicated shampoo cannot reach them.
And while they hide in there, they give off chemicals that tell your follicle to stop growing hair and start shedding it.
So Diane’s shedding had a real reason behind it. It was not her age. A shield had formed on her follicles, and nothing she put on top of her head could get through it
"For the first time in two years, I stopped counting the hairs in the drain."
What I Realized Changed My Practice For Good
Once I saw the biofilm, I understood why the usual advice keeps failing. It comes down to five mistakes that even a lot of doctors keep making.
The 5 Mistakes That Keep Women Losing Hair
1.
Blaming It All On Hormones
Hormones matter, but fixing only the hormones leaves the shield in place. The shedding keeps going.
2.
Trusting A Shampoo To Fix It
Shampoo cleans the surface. The biofilm hides under a wall deep in the follicle, so the shampoo never reaches it.
3.
Washing More, Or Washing Less
Washing more makes your scalp produce extra oil. Washing less lets oil and microbes pile up. Either way, the colony keeps getting fed.
4.
Chasing Growth Instead Of Stopping The Shedding
Rosemary oil, biotin, and serums all push for new growth. But if hair falls out faster than it grows, growth was never the problem
5.
Treating The Top And Missing The Root
Scrubs and oils work on the outside. The colony lives deep in the follicle, so it grows right back the moment you stop.
A Different Way In
Every oil, vitamin, and shampoo failed for the same reason. They sit on top of the scalp, and nothing on the surface can reach a colony living under a wall deep in the follicle.
So I started recommending a completely different approach, one I now call the Inside-Out Method.
Instead of working on the surface, it works through your bloodstream, the one route a shampoo can never take.
It does two things the surface never could: it starves the colony of the oil that feeds it, and it stops the wall from being rebuilt.
Two natural ingredients make this possible: Cold-pressed Pumpkin Seed Oil and a true lipidosterolic Saw Palmetto extract.
But here is what most women are never told. Generic pumpkin seed oil is giving natural hair solutions a bad name. In one analysis of 28 commercial
saw palmetto products, only one met the purity standard that matters. Cheap heat-processed oil and berry-powder saw palmetto are exactly why so many women try natural and quit. That is the reason Bloom & Bond built its formula the way it did: cold-pressed Styrian pumpkin seed oil at a real dose, paired with a standardized saw palmetto, so the Inside-Out Method works where generic fails
It does three things at once, and each one lines up with how the biofilm hurts your hair.
Pumpkin Seed Oil helps lower the DHT your body produces, and DHT is what drives your scalp
to make extra oil. Less oil means less food, so the colony cannot grow the way it did. Saw
Palmetto adds a second layer, blocking that DHT from binding to the follicle so it cannot keep
attacking your hair while the colony is starved.
The cold-pressed fatty acids in Pumpkin Seed Oil have been shown in research to block the
microbes from building their wall. No wall, no place to hide.
Because you swallow these ingredients , they travel through your blood to the root of the hair, right where the colony hides. That is the one spot every shampoo and oil misses.
Having the right ingredients on the label isn't the same as having them at the right dose.
2,000mg · Cold-Pressed Extract
Cold-pressed from Styrian pumpkin seeds, used in Austria for more than 200 years.
Helps lower DHT, so your scalp makes less of the oil that feeds the colony.
Shown in research to fight the kind of microbes that build biofilms.
200mg · Clinical Dose
A traditional botanical extract with a long history of use.
Its natural fatty acids have been shown to block biofilm from forming.
Works alongside Pumpkin Seed Oil to calm the scalp from the inside.
How the Inside-Out Method Works
It does three things at once, and each one lines up with how the biofilm hurts your hair.
WEEK 1 TO 2
Most women notice less hair in the shower and on the brush. The shedding slows because the follicle is no longer being pushed to let go.
WEEK 3 TO 4
The itch and the tender, tight feeling around the part line often begin to settle.
WEEK 6 TO 8
The heavy shedding levels off. Hair that would have fallen out is staying in, so your ponytail and part line feel more stable.
MONTH 3
With the shedding under control, the follicles have room to grow again. This is when many women see the first baby hairs along the part and hairline.
To Keep Falling Out
You have spent enough time scared of the shower and hiding your part. Now you know the real reason nothing has worked, and you know what finally reaches it. Your follicles are not gone. But every day you wait, the gunk keeps growing, and it keeps choking your hair and making it thinner. The sooner you starve that gunk out and clear it off your roots, the sooner your follicles can breathe and grow again. Help them today.
