THE PROBLEM
You have been doing everything right. Deep conditioning, protein treatments, wrapping at night, babying your edges. And your hair still keeps thinning, your part keeps widening, and your kitchen still will not grow past that same short length.
So you treat it like breakage, because that is what breakage looks like, and you reach for more moisture and more protein. But moisture and protein only work on the strand you can see. They cannot reach the follicle under your scalp, and that is where this is really happening.
What you are dealing with is not just your hair breaking off. It is your hair growing back thinner each time it grows, until it barely grows at all. That is a completely different problem, and it needs a completely different fix.

WHY YOUR HAIR IS DIFFERENT
Dr. Patricia Sullivan
Lead Scientist · Bloom & Bond
Black hair is the most fragile hair there is, and that is not an opinion, it is structure. Every coil and every bend in your curl pattern is a natural weak point. Straighter hair has almost none of these, so your hair was already working harder than anyone else's to hold on, long before any thinning ever started.
Now add what happens on the inside. As you get older your estrogen begins to fall, and estrogen is the thing that kept your hair growing full and thick. When it drops, two things happen at the same time. Your follicles start shrinking from the inside, and your scalp makes less of its own natural oil, so your hair gets drier and more brittle on the outside.
That is the double hit. Thinning from the inside and breaking from the outside, at the same time. It is why your hair does not simply fall from the root, it can snap in the middle of the strand too.
And here is the part that explains so much. When a follicle shrinks, every strand grows back a little finer than the one before it, until it is soft little peach fuzz that will not grow. That is why your curls stopped holding the way they used to. That is why your hair feels stringy or thin in spots it never was. Your curl pattern did not fail you and you did not do this. The strand itself became physically thinner.
It also explains why your edges always go first. Your body has a built in helper that turns a little of your testosterone into estrogen right at the follicle, which protects it, but your edges naturally carry the least of that helper. So when your estrogen drops, your edges lose their protection first and they fall the fastest. This was never about how tight your braids were.

WHY IT HITS HARDER
For a lot of women this shift comes slowly, later in life. For Black women it often comes early and hits harder, and there are real reasons for that.
Fibroids are about three times more common in Black women, and the surgeries that treat them can quietly lower estrogen years ahead of schedule, sometimes as early as your thirties. When that shield drops early, the thinning can feel fast and aggressive.
PCOS shows up differently too. Black women with PCOS tend to carry higher levels of the hormone that shrinks hair follicles, even at the same weight as anyone else, so the attack on the hair is simply stronger.
This is why so many Black women get sent home with the word traction and no blood test, when the real story was hormonal the whole time. Your hair was never the problem. It was a shift on the inside that no one bothered to check for.
The follicle journey — and how Bloom & Bond intervenes.
— 04
WHY THE GREASE NEVER WORKED
When your scalp got dry, you did what you were taught to do. You greased it. But grease sits on top of your skin like a lid. It cannot reach down into the follicle, and the follicle is where the dryness and the thinning actually begin. So the grease made your scalp look shiny while the follicle underneath kept starving.
The hormone doing the real damage is called DHT. While your estrogen shield is up, it keeps DHT away from your follicles. When estrogen falls, DHT gets through and shrinks them. So the answer is not more moisture sitting on top. The answer is to block that hormone and feed the follicle from the inside, which is the one thing grease can never do.

Why It Falls Short
Feeds existing hair but never touches the hormone shrinking your follicles.
A liquid that reverts your roots and forces extra washing your hair can’t handle.
Sits on top like a lid. Cannot reach the follicle where thinning begins.
Hours of work for the strand. Can leave already dry hair drier.
Blocks DHT at the source + at the receptor. One softgel. Style stays untouched.

THE TIMELINE
Real growth takes time, because your follicle runs on a 90-day cycle. This is the timeline most women tell us about.
WEEK 2
Fewer strands on wash day, and a scalp that feels calmer and less tender.
MONTH 1
DHT stops pulling at your follicles, so the hair you still have holds on.
MONTH 3
New growth along your edges and around your kitchen, and the gaps start to close.
MONTH 6+
A fuller part, a thicker ponytail, curls that hold again, and edges strong enough for whatever style you want.
#1 Derm Recommended Formula For Hormonal Hair Loss
Three months is the least your follicles need to recover, so this is where most women start.

The Questions Everyone Asked
Why won't my curls hold anymore?
When your follicles shrink, each strand grows back finer than the last, so your hair is physically thinner than it used to be. That is why curls fall flat and hair feels stringy. As the follicle recovers, thicker strands can grow back and your curls can start to hold again.
My doctor said it's traction from braids. Is it?
If you have been out of braids for a year or more and your edges still will not grow, it is usually not tension anymore. That is the sign it is hormonal, which is exactly what this is made for.
Why didn't oils and grease work?
Grease sits on top of your scalp and cannot reach the follicle underneath. Pumpkin Seed Oil works from the inside, where the thinning and the dryness actually start.
Will it mess up my silk press or protective style?
No. It is a softgel you swallow, so nothing liquid touches your hair. Your silk press, braids, twists, and wash-and-go all stay exactly how you like them.
Do I have to wash my hair more?
No. Because nothing goes on your scalp, your wash routine does not change, and your hair does not get dried out by extra washes.
Is this just Minoxidil in a pill?
No. Minoxidil sits on your scalp and can revert your style. Bloom & Bond works from the inside on the hormone itself, so it may even help with unwanted facial hair instead of causing it.
How do I take it?
Take 2 softgels a day with a meal. The fat in your food helps your body absorb the oil, so try to take it with food.
The good news is that your follicles are tougher than you think. They do not die easily. They just shrink while DHT keeps at them. Give them what they need to recover, and most women start to see the shedding slow inside the first month.
No oil on top, no grease, and no protein treatment is going to do that, because this was never a moisture problem. It is a hormone problem, and your hair was built to be fragile from the start. Your edges can come back. They just need you to finally feed the right part of your hair.
